Application process

How do I apply?

All you need to do is follow the on screen application through the 3 step process, filling in your personal details to get a decision as quickly as 30 seconds later.

When do I get a decision?

You will get a decision within 30 seconds or if we need a little more time to process your application you will receive a confirmation email giving you the decision.

Will my credit card application be credit scored?

Yes - Credit scoring is a system used by most financial organisations to decide if they can give a person credit.

It works by using the information you include on your application form plus information held about you by a credit reference agency (in our case, a company called Experian). Each piece of information is given a 'score'. The scores are then added together and the total score is used to help decide whether to accept an application. A record of this search will be recorded on your credit file.

When will I receive my PIN number?

Within 10 working days, your PIN tends to arrive before your card, but always in a separate mailing and on a separate day.

What do I do if my ASDA Credit Card does not arrive?

Please be patient, we try to work within 10 working days as a timescale, however, if you have any concerns please call our Customer Service Team on 0871 522 5888 (Calls may be recorded and monitored for quality and security purposes. Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras). Lines are open from 8am to 9pm, 7 days a week.

Is there anything I need to do when I receive my ASDA Credit Card?

For your own security please ring 0800 915 2224 to activate your card. (This telephone number will also be on a sticker on the front of your card as a reminder). Calling this number acknowledges receipt of your card and allows you to start taking advantage of the Asda Credit Card benefits.

Can I have an additional cardholder on my ASDA Credit Card account?

Yes - Just call our Customer Service Team on 0871 522 5888 (Calls may be recorded and monitored. Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) who will be happy to order one for you.

Please note: Additional cardholders share the primary cardholders credit limit. The additional cardholder has to be 18 or over and as the primary cardholder you are responsible for what they spend.

If my application is declined can I find out why?

Yes we will send you a letter, plus you can get a copy of your credit information by writing to Consumer Help Service, Experian, PO Box 8000, Nottingham, NG80 7WF or visit www.experian.co.uk

I clicked the apply button and nothing happened?

Your browser may be set up to prevent "pop-ups" (new windows launching from the existing window). Simply change your browser settings to temporarily allow "pop-ups" from this site and you should see the new window and be able to continue with your application.

Can I hold both the ASDA Reward Credit Card™ and the ASDA Everyday Credit Card™ at the same time?

If you already have an Asda Everyday Credit Card™ please do not apply for the Asda Reward Credit Card™. We will not be able to accept your application because customers can only have one Asda Credit Card offer. Can I hold the ASDA Reward Credit Card™ and the ASDA Storecard at the same time?

If you are an Asda Storecard customer you can apply for an Asda Reward Credit Card™.

Please note your application will be credit scored using the information you provide in your application. If you are accepted for an Asda Reward Credit Card™ and no longer require your Asda Storecard, please call 0871 522 5888 (Calls may be recorded and monitored for quality and security purposes. Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) to close your Asda Storecard. If your application is declined you can still continue to use your Asda Storecard.

Using your credit card

Are there any fees and charges I should know about?

Yes - as with any credit card fees are charged, please click here to find out what for and how much they are. However, there is no annual fee.

What should I do if my ASDA Credit Card is lost or stolen?

Should you suspect you have lost your card or that it's been stolen immediately call 020 8181 0000. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What do I do if I forget my PIN number?

Please call our Customer Service Team on 0871 522 5888 (Calls may be recorded and monitored for quality and security purposes. Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) who will be able to re-issue your existing PIN.

Can I change my PIN number?

Yes you can, once your card has been activated for 48 hours. This can be changed at most ATM link machines.

What happens if I am not happy with my ASDA Credit Card or if I have any more questions about it?

Can I make cash withdrawals with my card?

Yes you can, but please be aware that there is a charge of 3% of the amount you withdraw with a minimum fee of £3. (Min Credit Limit £250. Other charges: Balance Transfer 2.99%, Overseas Transactions 2.75%; Copy Statements £3. Min payments are the greater of 3% of outstanding balance or £5 each month).

Can I set up a Direct Debit?

Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) who will be happy to set that up for you. You can choose to pay the minimum or to pay your balance off in full each month.

What happens if I make a late payment or go over my credit limit?

You will receive a letter from us explaining any charges. These will then appear on your monthly statement.

How do I manage my account online?

Just register now and you can use the Asda Credit Card Online Account Manager straightaway. 

What can I do online?

You can do everything you would normally do by phone or post. So you can make a payment, view your statements, see your points balance, contact us via our secure messaging service and lots more.

Can I make a payment online?

Yes you can make a payment online by using a debit card or you can set up a Direct Debit. 

Can I set up a Direct Debit online?

Yes you can. It’s really quick and easy to do. You’ve just got to register for the Asda Credit Card Online Account Manager . It only takes a few moments to set up a Direct Debit online and from then on, your payments will be made automatically without you having to think about them.

Will I still get paper statements in the post if I register for ASDA Credit Card Online Account Manager?

Yes you will. However you can choose to receive statements online only. We’ll then send you an email every month when your statement is available to view online.

Why should I choose not to receive paper statements?

Lots of people prefer not to receive paper statements and view their statements online instead. You don’t have to wait for your monthly statement. We’ll send you an email to let you know your latest statement is available to view. Of course, you can go online any time and see recent transactions. Many people find it easier to see a list of transactions rather than hear them detailed over the phone. Online statements also save paper and that’s better for the environment.

What information do I need to register?

For security reasons, we ask for information that only you will know. You'll also need to have your account number, which you can find on any of your paper statements or your 16 digit card number.

Insurance

What are the benefits of Balance Cancellation Cover (BCC)?

We would pay the minimum payment of 4% of your monthly statement balance for the first 30 days in a row and again after 60 days in a row that you are not working and then clear the balance at 90 days if you have not returned to work. In the event of your death, the balance will be cleared in full (up to £15,000 subject to your claim being approved).

What am I not covered for under this policy?

As with most insurance policies exclusions and limitations apply. The list provided is not exhaustive but highlights exclusions and limitations that may be considered significant.

Life & Disability cover

There are no exclusions under these cover types.

Unemployment cover

You will not be covered if:

  • You are aware of any unemployment or had reason to believe that it is likely to happen at the start date (including because you are employed on a fixed term contract which will not be renewed)
  • You retire, resign or take voluntary redundancy
  • Your unemployment is a result of misconduct, fraud, dishonesty, participation in an unofficial strike or lock out.

How do I apply for insurance on my ASDA Credit Card repayments?

You can apply for Balance Cancellation Cover when filling out your Asda Credit Card application form online. If you would like a bit longer to think about the benefits of the cover, you can call us at any time on 0871 522 5888 (Calls may be recorded and monitored for quality and security purposes. How long am I covered for?

Your cover is valid for one month at a time and is automatically renewed every month until any of the following occurs:

- for disability and unemployment cover, when you permanently retire; or

- when you reach 65 years; or

- your credit agreement ends; or

- your insurance is cancelled; or

- your card is cancelled; or

- you die.

If you fail to make monthly payments when due, as required under the terms of your credit agreement, for at least 3 months, we may cancel your insurance. We may also cancel your insurance if you only make part payments towards the minimum amount due.

 

How much does insurance cover cost?

Balance Cancellation Cover costs 1p per £1 of your monthly statement balance including Insurance Premium Tax. For example, if you have an outstanding balance of £600 in a month, you would pay £6 that month and if you keep your monthly balance at this level you would pay £72 over a year. In addition, interest may be charged on the premium at the current retail purchase rate if you do not pay off your statement balance in full every month.

Is my partner covered?

Only the person named on the agreement is covered. However, if you do not meet the eligibility requirements at the start date, but have a partner who does, then they can claim benefits and you will be ineligible to make a claim.

Who provides my insurance policy?

The insurance for disability and unemployment is underwritten by Financial Insurance Company Limited registered in England No: 1515187. The insurance for life cover is underwritten by Financial Assurance Company Limited registered in England No: 4873014. Both Financial Insurance Company Limited and Financial Assurance Company Limited are limited by shares and their registered offices are Building 11, Chiswick Park, Chiswick High Road, London, W4 5XR. Financial Insurance Company Limited and Financial Assurance Company Limited are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Their FSA registration numbers are 202639 and 229586.

What are the age limitations?

You must be aged between 18 and 64 to be eligible for cover and also working at least 16 hours per week. 

Can I cancel my insurance policy?

Of course, Asda customers can cancel their Balance Cancellation Cover Insurance within the first 30 days of taking out the cover and any premiums paid will be refunded. Thereafter you may still cancel at any time without incurring any cancellation fees, but any premiums paid will not be refunded. How do I request a Balance Transfer?

Just call 0800 915 2228, the lines are open 8am to 9pm, 7 days a week. 

Is there a fee for transferring my balance?

If you transfer a balance within the first six weeks of signing your agreement the fee is 2.99% of each amount you transfer.

Can I access my account details online?

Yes - just click on this link to sign up for our Online Account Manager .

How do I collect points?

If you are an Asda Reward Credit Card™ holder you will collect points (on the first £10,000 of spend each year) every time you use your card to pay for purchases inside or outside Asda. So you earn points on groceries, CDs, DVDs, electrical goods, GEORGE, Asda Living, petrol and everywhere else you spend outside of Asda. At certain times you will earn double and quadruple points too!

If you are an Asda Everyday Credit Card™ holder or a Storecard customer you also earn points everywhere you use your card, except in Asda petrol stations.

What happens to the points I collect and when will I receive my vouchers?

Your points will be totalled up monthly on your statement and then you will receive your vouchers in November - just in time to make the most of them in the run up to Christmas!

Will my card be monitored for fraud?

Definitely, we have a Fraud Protection Unit who constantly monitor accounts for any unusual behaviour and keep you informed.

Can I receive 1p off a litre of petrol at any petrol station?

If you're an Asda Everyday Credit Card™ or Asda Storecard holder, you'll get 1p off every litre of fuel you buy at an Asda petrol station. How much do I have to spend to receive free home delivery when I shop for my groceries at www.ASDA.com?

£99 or more and the cost of your delivery is picked up by us, when you pay with your Asda Credit Card.

How can I save 5% at ASDA Living stores?

You can save 5% on everything at Asda Living stores when you pay with your Asda Credit Card.
