How does ASDA Breakdown Cover work?

Asda Breakdown Cover is provided in partnership with Britannia Rescue. They have a national network of more than 3,000 breakdown professionals. So if your car’s broken down or won’t start, there will always be someone just around the corner. You don’t even need to know where you are because we can find you using your mobile phone signal, if you want us to.

What if my car can't be fixed at the roadside?

If the breakdown professional can’t solve the problem at the roadside, we’ll transport the vehicle, driver and up to seven passengers to a destination of your choice. If this isn't possible we may provide either a hire car or if the driver is unwell, a relief driver.

How can I pay for ASDA Breakdown Cover?

You can pay for your Asda Breakdown Cover online by a continuous or non-continuous method of payment. Continuous means that we will contact you before your cover renewal date, and unless you choose to cancel we’ll continue to provide your cover and take payment accordingly. Non-continuous means that your cover is for a fixed period of 12 months, after that fixed period your cover will stop as will your payments. Please note Switch/Maestro cards are non-continuous only.

We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Electron. We regret we cannot accept payment by American Express.

Can I pay by monthly instalments?

Yes you can and there’s no additional interest fee.

My current breakdown cover is a lot cheaper. Is it as good?

Other providers may charge you extra for the things we may include as standard. Make sure you compare like-for-like so in the event of a breakdown, you'll have peace of mind knowing that nationwide recovery and housecall are included with both Asda Breakdown Cover and Asda European Breakdown Cover. If necessary, we can even supply a hire car, overnight accommodation or a relief driver (conditions apply).

How will you find me if I don't know where I am?

Our national network organises local breakdown professionals. So if you don’t know where you are, the chances are they will – thanks to their local knowledge. And if you want us to, we can use your mobile phone signal to help find you.

What do I do if I breakdown, my car won't start or I have an accident?

First ring your insurance company to make them aware of the situation. You can then call us. It’s a stressful situation so we’ll offer reassurance and provide some cool, calm advice if you’re not sure what to do next.

What if I've had an accident but can still drive my car?

Call us on 0800 202 8100 immediately and we’ll make sure you’re okay, then we’ll help you get back on the road. If you’ve had an accident, please ring your insurance company first.

If I have children with me, what will you do?

For a start, you may well be treated as a priority. And if your car can’t be fixed at the roadside, we’ll make sure the vehicle that takes you to the garage or a destination of your choice can transport your children in their own car seats.

Will my caravan/trailer be covered?

Caravans or trailers on tow at the time of a breakdown are covered up to a maximum overall length of 8 metres. Unless the breakdown occurs at the home address we have on our records or within a quarter of a mile from that address or the location at which the caravan/trailer is nomally stored.

Will my membership cover me while travelling in the Rebuplic of Ireland?

Yes! Asda Breakdown Cover offers you complete cover when you’re driving in the Republic of Ireland. However, Personal Cover does not operate in the Republic of Ireland.

Will you help me if I break down in Europe?

If you have Asda European Breakdown Cover, you’ll be covered if you need our help in Europe. Don’t forget, Asda Breakdown Cover covers you in the Republic of Ireland. Call 0844 335 1251 for more details.
