What is Asda Instant Life Cover?

Asda Instant Life Cover offers guaranteed acceptance to all customers in the UK between the ages of 17 and 50. It’s really quick and easy to set up – all we need to know is your date of birth, gender and whether you smoke and you can get cover straightaway, either online or over the phone. Asda Instant Life Cover is a simple life cover that pays out on death only.

What key features does the plan provide?

The plan pays out if you die before age 65 and your premiums are up to date. Because we offer the cover to everyone, there are some special conditions. These are covered in the Key Facts document which you should read before taking out the cover.

Why do I need Life insurance?

Life insurance provides financial support for your loved ones via a lump sum payment if you pass away. For example it could be used to pay off a mortgage or to provide for children’s education.

Who can apply for AILC?

Anyone who is resident in the UK and aged between 17 and 50 years of age.

When does cover start?

As soon as you buy the cover you will be covered straightaway.

What about inflation?

It’s important to remember that inflation in the future will reduce the buying power of the cash lump sum. You should bear this in mind when choosing your level of premium and hence cover.

How do I apply?

You can apply online or call us on 0800 030 4153. We’re open 8am to 8pm on weekdays and 10am to 4pm at weekends.

Can I talk this through with someone before I take out cover?

What happens when I am 50? (do I have to take out over 50’s life cover?)

No. Asda Instant Life Cover covers you right up until your 65th birthday as long as your premiums are up to date.

Should I tell my loved ones that I have taken out Life insurance?

Yes. You should let them know where your Cover Details and Cover Summary are kept. All the important contact information is included in these should they ever need to make a claim.

Can anything stop my loved ones getting the cash lump sum?

Because we offer the cover to everyone, there are some special conditions. These are covered in the Key Facts document which you should read before taking out the cover. You also have to keep your monthly premiums up to date otherwise the cover will lapse and you will no longer be covered.

Does this policy protect me from unemployment or illness that prevents me from working?

No. The plan only pays out if you die. It doesn’t pay out for any other reason.

Will my monthly premiums ever increase?

No. As long as UK tax laws and any other regulations stay the same we guarantee that your monthly premium will stay the same.

Do I need a medical?

  • The cover also won’t pay out if you commit suicide in the first 12 months after taking the cover out.

Finally, if you have a history of alcohol or drug abuse the cover is not suitable for you at all because it will not pay out under any circumstances. The full details of the cover and the exclusions are explained in the Key Facts Document.
