5 reasons people are late for work

Getting to the same place, at the same time, five days per week is not always a straightforward task. There are many unforeseen events within our daily routine that can make people late for work. Below are some of the most common reasons;
Alarms: These days, most people trust their mobile phones as personal alarms to wake up in the morning. However, sometimes these devices fail for a multitude of reasons. Common issues include mobiles that run out of battery during the night; alarms that (mysteriously) fail to go off, were set at the wrong time or just were not set at all. There are a number of unexpected problems that could strike at any time, so be aware.
Sickness: This is inevitable at some stage. There are times when a strong cold or flu makes it impossible to get out of bed. On these occasions, sleeping a few more hours and starting work at a later time than normal can help you to gain some much needed extra energy to face a busy day. At other times though, waking up is just impossible and a full day off is the only option.
Children: Kids can often be a major reason why parents are late for work. Children being sick, traffic during the school rush and general mischievousness are all examples of how having children can derail your journey to work.
House: The ‘9 am - 5 pm’ work shift can make it difficult to deal with property related problems. That is why people often try to book any renovation/maintenance work as early in the morning as possible, so the job is done quickly and they can get to work as quickly as possible. However, this is not always possible.
Travel: Buses, trains, cars... transport-related problems are the most widely used reason for being late. If trains are delayed or if your car has broken down when travelling to work, it can be extremely frustrating. Breakdown cover can be a great help if you’re driving to work. Especially if break down at home with a flat tyre or a dead battery. Most bosses will understand as long as you call and let them know what your estimated time of arrival will be.
