Lake District 'has two best views'

Visitors to the Lake District should ensure they have breakdown cover so nothing can spoil their enjoyment of two stretches of water which provide the best views in Britain, according to a poll.

Lake Buttermere was voted as the top view, followed by Derwentwater in Chevrolet's poll. East Sussex's Seven Sisters cliff formation was in third place, while St Ives in Cornwall and Stonehenge in Wiltshire made up the rest of the top five.

Les Turton, from Chevrolet, said: "We don't need to fork out on flights to find scenic locations. It is really great that more and more people are appreciating and acknowledging everything that our own country has to offer us.

"There is a wealth of beauty on offer to everyone within the UK and we only need to hit the road to find it."

The rest of the top 10 consisted of Holkham Beach in Norfolk, Swaledale in Yorkshire, Wastwater in Cumbria, Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland and Loch Corusik on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

Some 1,001 adults were surveyed by the car firm.
