Roald Dahl's BMW to be sold at auction

A classic sports car owned from new by children's author Roald Dahl is to go under the hammer and unless the new owner is one of The Twits, they will be searching for car insurance cover.

The 1982 BMW 732i will be auctioned by Historics at Brooklands and 20% of the profits from the sale will be donated to Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

Historics auction director Edward Bridger-Stille said: "Our gratitude must go to the current vendor, who like us, recognises this fantastic opportunity to support a marvellous charity.

"Roald Dahl's stories made an indelible contribution to the bedtimes of many millions of children and we are delighted to play our own small part in paying thanks."

The 7 Series was the first BMW to be equipped with service interval indicators and a climate control system. The vehicle has 100,000 miles on the clock and will be sold with no reserve when it is auctioned on September 25.
