Freak storm floods Big Brother house

A "freak storm" on Tuesday night meant the nine remaining Big Brother housemates had to be evacuated to a holding area overnight.

In a situation that perhaps highlighted to viewers the importance of having a good home insurance policy, the torrential rain flooded the living room, bedroom and diary room.

The contestants were told at 9.15pm to move to a holding area in the Big Brother compound as a safety measure.

They were eventually told four hours later to return to a makeshift bedroom.

The participants in the fly-on-the-wall show still have access to the kitchen, the garden, and the task room.

Fans who tuned in to watch events online were also disappointed as the storm affected the online stream.

Engineers checked all the cables inside the house to comply with home insurance policy and to make sure Steve, Josie, Dave, John James, Corin, Mario, Andrew, JJ and Sam could return.

Big Brother said: "Engineers are currently checking every single cable within the building and double-checking everything is in order and safe for our housemates before they return."
