An unlucky home insurance provider could soon be facing a claim for as much as £150,000 after a famous horseracing trophy was stolen from a house in Gloucestershire.
The Cheltenham Gold Cup, along with a Challenge Cup trophy and a Britannia Handicap Cup trophy, were taken from a property in Wormington on Wednesday.
Bronze ornaments in the shape of a hare, a spaniel with a pheasant in its mouth and two horses being ridden by jockeys, were also stolen, along with a wooden clock with gold sides a gold mechanism, two silver trophies, a silver ornament and a cigarette case.
The total value of the haul was put at £150,000, a figure that underlines the importance of a comprehensive home insurance policy.
The cup stolen was not the present model, but one that was won a number of years ago.
Gloucestershire Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area overnight.
