Animal lovers in the south of England will soon be able to enjoy a giant sculpture of a dog which comedienne Dawn French has donated to a West Sussex re-homing centre.
The Vicar of Dibley star has provided the Dogs Trust home in Shoreham with the sculpture, which is 9ft in height.
The piece of art depicts a Scottie dog named 'Poo', which appears as a character in French's first novel.
For those considering giving a home to an animal from a shelter, pet insurance cover might offer a useful form of protection against possible vets bills.
Discussing the donation of her statue, French said: "I created her as one of the characters in my very first novel, A Tiny Bit Marvellous, and she went on to feature in giant form in the TV advert for the book, which has since become a number one bestseller."
