Holidaying pet owners 'forget food'

Research suggests that many pet owners head off on holiday without first putting some food out for their furry friends.

The poll by energy supplier E.ON found that 2% of the 2,000 surveyed had forgotten to feed their pets before going on holiday, even though many of them may well have managed to arrange some pet insurance cover first.

Pre-holiday forgetfulness was more common when it came to electrical goods - with around a third of respondents not getting around to unplugging their TV or microwave before jetting off.

The trend for leaving things plugged in when leaving for a holiday was most common among people in the 18 to 24 age group, with East Anglia the worst-affected area.

Some 7% of those polled had even left the house minus their passport or other travel paperwork, according to the survey.
