Missing cat reunited with owners

A British couple are to be reunited with their pet cat three months after it escaped from their car at a service station on the M1.

Sylvia and Jon Callister failed to find Alfie after he escaped from their car at the southbound services at Toddington, Bedfordshire, and disappeared across the motorway in April.

But he was identified by the RSPCA thanks to his microchip and pet passport after being spotted by a member of staff at the northbound services.

Alfie was put into quarantine at the Bayton Lodge International Quarantine Kennels and Cattery, Warwickshire, and will be taken back to his owner's home in Spain this weekend.

Hopefully the owners had pet insurance which may help cover any bills he has run up during his 'vacation' and cover him when he returns to Spain.

"We obviously thought all was lost when Alfie ran away and we did all we could to find him, but to no avail," Mr Callister said.

"I just couldn't believe it when we got the phone call from the RSPCA to say that he was safe and well after all this time.
