Britain vs. the rest of the world – Where should I go on my next holiday?

Britain-vs

If the festive feeling is starting to fade for you, you might want to think about your next fix of entertainment with some holiday fun.

Where to go

Before looking at where to go, you may need to decide on what requirements you have for your holiday. Do you have children? Are you looking for one long party or a relaxation paradise? In a recent Asda e-survey, 64% of those who were surveyed suggested that relaxation was the feature of a holiday which appealed to them more than anything else.

One of the most popular destinations for Brits is Spain, principally because it offers sun, sea, sand in steady supplies. It’s recently been reported, in an annual Post Office travel survey, that prices at resorts have dropped by a massive 40% compared to five years ago.*

A survey conducted by the post office found that Spain is the number one bargain holiday destination. Sri Lanka is also high on the top of the list as political unrest has made the country a relatively cheap holiday destination.

When to go?

Try and make the most of your bank holiday this year as millions of UK consumers will benefit from an extra day off work. Thanks to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the nation gets an additional bank holiday on 5th June 2012. However, this may fall on a peak holiday season which means that prices could be potentially expensive.

Book online

With the world at your fingertips, you can often book holidays online and find several great last minute deals not advertised at travel agents.

By booking your holiday online, you can create your own package, selecting the most convenient flights for you, your ideal hotel and car hire if needed. You can also shop online for travel insurance.

Budget

It could be worth setting a budget to ensure that you don’t come back home to a massive credit card bill and a sinking feeling of post-holiday blues. Do some research into how expensive your travel destination is to give you an idea of how much you can spend on a daily basis.

For example, if you’re heading to a renowned tourist region, your daily budget might need to be bigger than if you were to sit on a beach in the middle of nowhere.

*This information has come from an annual Post Office survey which measures the price of eight items in resorts across 33 destinations around the world.
