With Christmas just behind you and the dawn of another year on the cards, New Year’s Eve is the perfect opportunity for couples and families to take a break. So, where are the best places to spend this momentous occasion?
Urban London
For those of you who are after a traditional experience which is close to home, England’s capital will always put on a good performance. With an impressive midnight firework display which attracts around a quarter of million people and the famous sound of Big Ben, a quick journey to London could be the perfect way to spend the New Year for families and couples alike.
Rural Scotland
Celebrated with a four day festival called Hogmanay, New Year is certainly a time for celebration in Scotland. Those looking for a quieter, more personal celebration could travel to one of the country’s great rural areas and spend the holiday taking in beautiful landscapes which are accentuated by the multiple firework displays.
Romantic Paris
There is no reason why New Year can’t be celebrated outside of the UK and Paris is a great location for couples at this time of year. The Sacre Coeur Cathedral is an enchanting place from which to celebrate the dawn of a new year, whilst the Champs Elysees offers a more active atmosphere and a clear view of the famous light display surrounding the Eiffel Tower.

One of the best parties around, Cape Town holds their main celebration on January 2nd – giving visitors a truly unique New Year experience. With crowds of more than 80,000 expected in Cape Town alone, visitors will be dazzled by the bright colours, theatrical parades and music that will fill the streets at this time of year.
