Which cover option should I choose? Single trip or annual multi trip travel?

If you're likely to be going on holiday more than once a year, you may well find that Asda Travel Insurance annual multi trip policy is more cost effective than taking out a separate policy each time you travel. It also saves you time and means you don't have to worry about forgetting to take out travel insurance.

What confirmation of cover do I have?

When you buy a travel policy online we'll give you a policy reference number which confirms your cover. If you have any further questions you can contact us on 0845 300 7131.

Can I travel without my documents?

Yes you can - a policy reference number is all that is needed for proof of insurance when travelling. We would, however, recommend that you take your documents with you for information and also for when you are asked for brief details of your policy cover. Or, if you don't yet have documents, remember to take a note of important telephone numbers in case you need to contact us.

My age will change during the policy duration, will this affect my cover?

Your age will be calculated from the date of taking the policy, so it does not matter if it changes during the period of cover.

How do I know the policy went through okay?

As long as you have a policy reference number, you can be sure everything went through ok. If you have any concerns you can contact us on 0845 300 7131.

Am I covered as soon as I get a reference number?

Single trip travel insurance: Cancellation cover will start from the date we issue the policy, the rest of your cover will start on your intended departure date.

Annual multi trip travel insurance: Cancellation cover under this policy starts from the start date of the policy or the date of booking each holiday, whichever is later.

Am I covered for a skiing holiday?

If you take out our annual policy, winter sports are automatically covered for one trip of up to 21 days during the period of insurance. If you take out our single trip package, you can add up to 31 days winter sports cover on payment of an additional premium.

Does the policy cover business travel?

Business use can be selected on either the annual policies for up to 5 business trips, or on single trip policies. Business use will cover you for clerical and administrative work only.

Can people travel independently on an annual cover policy?

Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Which countries am I covered to travel to?

If you choose European cover, you can travel to: Algeria, Albania, Andorra, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Belorussia, Bosnia (Former Yugoslavia), Bulgaria, Balearic Islands, (Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza), Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Gomera), Channel Islands, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Corsica, Croatia (Former Yugoslavia), Denmark, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Moldavia, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia (West of Ural Mountains), Romania, San Marino, Sardinia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, The Azores, Ukraine, Vatican City.

Alternatively, you can choose Worldwide cover which covers you across the world, including USA and Canada.

What happens if I have to make a claim?

We appreciate how important effective claims handling is, so have set up special units to handle your travel claims. We also offer a worldwide emergency medical helpline which is available around the clock for you on +44 1603 208031. Whatever your problem, you know that friendly help is only a phone call away.

All lines open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls charged at local rate and may be recorded and/or monitored.

Will I be covered for an emergency air ambulance back home?

If an air ambulance is a medical necessity, it will be provided.

What happens if I don't agree with the conditions of the quote?

You can call us on 0845 300 7131 to discuss any aspect of our travel insurance.

Can I pay monthly for annual travel insurance?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to pay for travel insurance monthly. However, we're happy to accept credit card or debit card payments.

What do I do if I want to cancel my policy after I've paid?

Once we have received your payment, we'll send out your policy in the post within three working days. No right to cancel exists where all cover will have ended in a period of less than one month from the date of commencement. In all other cases, you have the right to cancel your policy during a period from 14 days from receipt of your policy documentation. If you wish to do so, you will be entitled to a full refund of the premium paid. However, if you've made a claim and subsequently wish to cancel your policy, we'll be entitled to recover the monies paid to you in settlement of the claim. If you exercise your right to cancel your policy, you can contact us on 0845 300 7131. If you do not exercise your right to cancel your policy, it will continue in force and you will be required to pay the premium.
